Team Member Spotlight: Meet Allicon, Triage Charge Nurse at AccessNurse

Our team members are our company’s lifeline and what makes us, well, us! Every day, they make a difference in the lives of our clients and their patients.

We are proud of how compassionate and dedicated our team is to provide a positive experience for each patient’s unique needs. No matter if a mother calls in the middle of the night to receive care for her child or a college student needs help navigating sensitive health issues, our team members are highly empathetic and understand the importance of accessing 24/7 care.

This year, our team of RNs earned the recognition they deserve, working on the frontline during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, when patients needed it the most. We recognize our team members’ hard work and dedication to care for patients and their role in shaping the nursing industry’s future.

That’s why we started a “Team Member Spotlight” series!

First Up, Meet Allicon, a Charge Telephone Triage Nurse at AccessNurse.

Allicon AccessNurse

Allicon has been a nurse for over nine years, and in just a few months, she will have been with the company for five years. In her role as a Telephone Triage Nurse, Allicon works to assess and triage a patient’s symptoms and help obtain the appropriate level of care for patients. Most recently, in addition to her role as an RN, she helps to onboard and train new team members. She has an Associated Degree as a Registered Nurse and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

In her spare time, you can find Allicon reading, hiking, and spending time with her three-year-old daughter, who Allicon describes as ‘amazing!’

We asked Allicon a few questions through a virtual interview, and here’s what she said:

Q: What is your favorite part about working at AccessNurse?

A: Being able to help callers across the U.S. with health care concerns. Also, I love the employees I work with at AccessNurse; we have a great team!

Q: What does it mean to provide quality care?

A: Providing quality care means ensuring that patient needs are met by providing a thorough assessment of their concerns and offering assistance and advice in a safe environment.

Q: Can you tell us a story of when you felt you made a difference at work?

A: Recently, I spoke with a mom about the fever concerns of her child. During our phone call, I provided home-care advice to the mom and eased her concerns by reassuring how to help care for her child. She was grateful for the advice, and I felt I made a difference with the family.

Q: What does it mean to you to work for Access Nurse?

A: Working at AccessNurse means a lot to me. I’ve utilized my nursing skills with a variety of patients, from newborns to the elderly. I have learned a lot while working here and have also been given the opportunity to teach others during nurse training, which I really enjoy.

Fun Fact: The picture of me holding Presley in her Minnie Mouse outfit is a picture taken at the trick-or-treating event hosted at AccessNurse’s headquarter location.

According to Allicon’s boss, she’s someone who “smiles through the phone, and is always willing to help!”  We are thankful for Allicon and how she goes above and beyond to treat patients with compassionate care and help take care of our own.

Stay tuned for future Team Member Spotlight features!
